Why pet urine smell keeps coming back

A carpet is three layers: the fibers you see, the backing they are stitched into and the pad beneath. Urine goes through all three, and the wet patch in the pad ends up wider than the mark on top. Repeat accidents reach the subfloor.

Deodorizing vs sanitizing: what we can claim

People search for carpet sanitizing, so here is the plain answer. Deodorizing applies an odor counteractant that reacts with the source of the smell rather than covering it, and is a normal part of a pet job. Sanitizing is a pesticide claim under federal law, allowed only with an EPA-registered product labeled for carpet and used at its label dilution and contact time.

The first hour after an accident

The first hour decides how much ever reaches the pad.

Stopping repeat accidents

Treat every marked spot, not just the one you can smell. A pet returns to what it still detects.
Washable mats by the doors and in the pet's bed, washed on a schedule.
If accidents start suddenly in a house-trained animal, ask your vet first.
Clean on a schedule: the Carpet and Rug Institute gives 12 to 18 months as the home baseline; pet households book more often.

Pets do not stay on the floor: pet accidents on your couch and urine stains on mattresses are treated the same way, same visit if you ask.

I had a wonderful experience with San Antonio Carpet Cleaning today. Sophie was my first point of contact and instrumental in explaining their process to me and how things were done, such as how payment was made, types of cleaning processes that were offered and when she didn’t know, she said “I’ll refer back to my team”and did so. She called back and gave me an answer shortly after. Next she stayed in contact with me for almost a week while I waited to get my carpets cleaned by reaching out via text, email. She also reached out in order to remind me of my appointment. Ryder then showed up at my house today and with a massive smile and a nice handshake was eager to do his job, which was a really nice thing to see. He explained the type of rug I had and why things looked the way they did. He walked me through how to ensure that it dried properly and what to do after when we inspecting and made sure I knew how the warranty worked and to call them back in the allotted time and they would take care of my issue. For these reasons, I am going to continue to utilize this company to start cleaning my entire house.
